Welcome to the home of session guitarist and composer
Jon Wright...

'Jon is a top player; he's very versatile and quickly understands what's needed on any given track. He has good ideas and is a pleasure to work with but above all he always delivers what's needed in the studio. A class act!

He has worked with a number of our artists in session and on tour and within all aspects of the service that Jon provides he is very competent, understanding and likeable. But above all he is a fabulous musician, which is why we use him again and again.'

'Jon has worked for me on several shows during the last year ... he has proved to be a great asset showing versatility, excellent technique and a high level or professionalism ... add this to his strong personality on stage and great performance skills and you have a musician who will be much in demand in years to come.'

Tuition

Want to learn guitar? Know your stuff but want to step it up a bit?

Guitar tuition from a knowledgeable and friendly teacher can have a hugely positive impact on your playing. I know from my own education that if you click with your teacher they can really get you moving forwards - they're the guys who love the instrument and want to share that passion - without overlooking what it is the student wants to achieve.

Generally my approach to teaching adults is pretty informal - the onus is on you to get value from your sesssion with me by doing some practice in between lessons; I'm happy to get you progressing as quickly as you like. If you think lessons might accelerate your guitar playing and fall into any of the following categories, drop me an email for an informal chat:

  • You want to learn to play a few songs on the acoustic guitar for your own amusement, campfires, entertaining the kids, grandchildren, etc
  • You want to play rocking riffs and solos on electric guitar to impress the ladies (or boys)
  • You don't especially care about being a guitarist, but you want to accompany yourself singing and would like to know the basics and maybe to help write songs
  • You know most of your chords but want to understand how to put them together and why some work together and some don't
  • You can play quite a few songs by bands you like, but want to improve your understanding of guitar theory (sounds boring, but it isn't!)
  • You can improvise a solo and you know your chords, scales and theory, but feel like your playing is stuck in some indefinable rut and you'd like to be more expressive
  • You're interested in modes, theory, and general advanced stuff, and want some help understanding and applying them

I've taught privately for a number of years, including periods at Pembroke Music Academy in London and the Turkish Lycee in Cambridge, plus many private adult students, all with a wide range of abilities. I'm happy to teach you as often or as infrequently as you like - if you want to block book and pay up front we can work something out no problem but if you just want to get together for a session now and again that's fine too. Email me at jon@jonwright.co.uk and we can see whether we can arrange something that works for you.
